Our Founders

A Vision to Empower Young Kings

If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.

These guiding words have shaped the mission and purpose of Reverend Dr. Darryl T. Canady, Founder of LIFE Male STEAM Academy and Senior Pastor of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church.

In 2014, Dr. Canady received what he calls his “911 Call.” On Thursday, September 11, 2014, he felt a divine directive to “Save the Boys”—to create a transformative pipeline that would uplift and empower underserved young men, providing them with the education, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to break cycles of poverty, violence, and crime.

With his wife, Reverend Taleeta L. Canady, a dedicated educator and leader, they set out to design a blueprint for change. Seven years later, LIFE Male STEAM Academy opened its doors, offering a brotherhood, a rigorous STEAM-based curriculum, and a pathway to success for young men ready to redefine their futures.
